A Safe Starting Point for Phoenix Clinicals in Georgia

Atlanta has a large health-care market, but the number of possible sites is irrelevant until University eligibility is clear. The current FNP and PMH program pages omit Georgia from their online availability lists. Ask the University for a written answer tied to the student's enrolled catalog and planned Georgia clinical activity.

Do not treat an advisor's general description of online learning, a clinic's prior relationship with another school, or an available preceptor as approval. If University direction does not support Georgia NP clinicals, the search should not proceed. That avoids asking clinicians for paperwork that cannot lead to an eligible rotation.

AANP places Georgia in the Restricted Practice category. State law restricts at least one element of NP practice and requires career-long supervision, delegation, or team management by another provider. Those requirements shape how licensed NPs work in Georgia and how a site structures clinical care.

The Georgia Board of Nursing is the official source for nursing licensure. If the University gives written authority for a particular plan, verify the preceptor's legal name, active credential, certification, population focus, and public standing. The Board record and University educational approval must both be satisfied.

Phoenix FNP students complete at least 600 supervised hours: four 45-hour courses across adult and geriatric care, women's health, and pediatrics, plus a 420-hour final preceptorship. At least 500 must be primary care. PMH students complete three 60-hour courses and a 420-hour final course, with psychotherapy and age-specific minimums.

Both pathways also require a separate five-day in-person residency in Phoenix, Arizona. Include these details when asking whether any enrolled version or written exception supports Georgia. The presence of virtual coursework or simulation does not establish a right to perform clinical hours in the state.

The RN-to-BSN includes 90 direct-care clinical hours in community and public-health settings, divided evenly across two courses. The work must be on-site and cannot simply repeat acute-care employment duties. Students should confirm current Georgia program availability and the proposed site before planning those hours.

DNP learners build an Applied Project and meet a minimum 1,000 total practice-hour requirement. Qualifying prior hours may be approved, so each student's remaining total can differ. A DNP student selects a practice site and External Consultant and works with a Project Chair. Non-NP MSN requirements vary by program version and concentration.

Phoenix's current process combines student participation with coordinator help. Students may identify a workplace or professional contact and forward it for evaluation. The program or clinical coordinator assists in finding and securing placements, manages agreements and approvals, and communicates with students who do not yet have an approved site.

An authorized Georgia lead should enter the formal process before dates are promised. Typhon is used for site and preceptor approval and the applicable clinical documentation. Agreements and clearance requirements must be complete before clinical activity. Preceptor and faculty verification happen after the placement is approved, not as a substitute for advance approval.

FNP and PMH each permit up to 100 telehealth hours under course-specific limits. The student must be physically in the same location as the preceptor. RN-to-BSN allows no more than four direct telehealth hours. These policies support limited virtual patient contact inside an approved plan, not a fully remote clinical.

Because Georgia is not currently listed for the NP programs, telehealth cannot be used to bypass the availability determination. If a different Phoenix field experience is authorized, we can examine in-person and telehealth-capable settings that follow the written course rules.

Metro Atlanta searches should account for cross-city travel between Atlanta, Marietta, Decatur, Sandy Springs, and surrounding counties. Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, Athens, Albany, and Valdosta form separate regional markets. A reliable weekly schedule matters more than the number of names in a directory.

Start with course fit. Community public health, an evidence-based DNP project site, primary care, and psychiatric age-group exposure require different organizations. Document patient access, preceptor presence, dates, and the authorized signer before a potential site is submitted.
